AITSL The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership

About us

Background

The School Leadership Development Strategies Clearinghouse (The Clearinghouse) has been developed by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) in collaboration with Education Services Australia (ESA). The Clearinghouse is the result of one of six key reform projects managed under the Australian Government’s Smarter Schools National Partnerships with states and territories.

The National Partnerships have been established to raise teaching standards and improve student outcomes in Australian schools, and focus on three areas: addressing student disadvantage, improving student literacy and numeracy and supporting teachers and school leaders.

Goals

The Clearinghouse aims to lead the development of a national approach to enhance the leadership capacity of current, emerging and aspiring school leaders and will achieve this through the collection and dissemination of the latest research, strategies and resources in the field and through the fostering of an interactive online Community of Practice.

The Clearinghouse will be of use to current and future principals, deputies, heads of department, policy makers, state bodies, leadership course providers and any others interested in school leadership development.
